Mississippi

At last I can spell Mississippi!

Left the hotel but couldn't get breakfast as I was there past 9.30 deadline.  Fortunately Stacy came to my rescue.  What a wonderful lady.  She has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology so there was plently of material for her to work on!  She is bringing up two children with her mother after having to move out of her apartment after the hurricane struck.  She also writes music, plays the guitar and also writes novels although she has been unsuccessful in getting them published so far.

Hit the road around 10am and made it into Mississippi where at Biloxi I found a campsite by the Gulf.  This is a wonderful clean town with large casino's that I had not realised were on this coast.  Just before Biloxi I was pulled over by the police.  Must remember to stop when they are behind you here!

I thought 'oh no not speeding' as I had done some rapid car chasing a little earlier.  No it turns out that several people had called the police to complain about an illegal vehicle on the road which was slowing rush hour traffic.  They also said that they had been trying to find me for more than half an hour.  I asked if I could continue into Biloxi on the rough siding.  They explained that as I would soon pass into another county the roads would improve enormously especially once I crossed the bridge,  They was right as once I saw the casino's the road really did become very smooth and I was able to cruise into town at over 20 mph.

So now I am typing this up and it is 23 degrees and a beautiful evening.  I am about to eat my salad and listen to the hysteria on the radio as it is mid term elections tomorrow and the south is a staunch Republican area.  From what I have heard here most people are worried about their jobs and the state of the nation.  I think they feel Obama is a Communist and they are talking heavy - like taking to arms in order to take their country back!

Ok Phill I will try to work out how to take pictures including myself with the timer!

  1. Hi Gerry. Nice to see you getting on so well with the trip. My guess is the British accent will tend to keep you out of trouble with US cops - it always seemed to work for me.

I don't see many comments here from the microlight bunch, maybe those of us who date back a bit have now moved on.

If your seriously interested about electric propulsion etc then pop me an email (hopefully you've got your email address book with you). I've built a solar powered river boat, a few electric bikes and a part-built electric motorcycle.

    Good luck with the trip,

    Jeremy Harris
