Gerry is unable to access WiFi

This is Karen here as Gerry is not able to get WiFi access at the moment so can't post on the blog just now.  I've just spoken to him and he had just been to a cattle auction in Crockett, Davy Crockett country.

He talked a couple of cattlehands there and also recorded an in depth interview with the President of the Republican party in Houston County. Apparently, George Bush has ranch closeby at Palestine.

He also talked to a young couple from Cambodia who are running petrol station and got their view of the American way of life.
He said that whilst he has been cycling over there the most common things he's seen are churches as there is one every few miles.
He's currently still wobbling along but the roads are smooth now making it much easier so despite the wheel and the bearing problems the trike is holding up really well.  He's aiming for Centreville tonight and should be in Waco tomorrow late afternoon.
It's generally around 25-26 degrees in the day & just above freezing at night. He is often too tired when he stops to put the tent up so just puts the fabric over his sleeping bags.  The Exped downmat that he sleeps on is wonderful as it is really comfortable and keeps him really warm. There was a bit of ground frost this am but it soon warmed up.  He says the trike is great as the sides when up keep him warm when its chilly and he puts then down to keep cool.
To date he has done 1107 miles and has approximately another 1400 to go to get to Los Angeles which means that he will be almost half way when he gets to Waco.
